Spicy Buffalo Cauliflower Wings Recipe for Crispy Plant-Based Bites

These Spicy Cauliflower Buffalo Wings are a household favorite. They taste impossibly good and always steal the show at gatherings—fun to eat, easy to share, and surprising to guests who expect chicken but get tender, spicy cauliflower instead.

Spicy Cauliflower Buffalo WingsGuests often can’t believe these crispy, saucy bites are made from cauliflower. It’s impressive how well the vegetable stands in, delivering texture and flavor that satisfy even die-hard wing lovers.

Finger foods are always a hit, and wings sit near the top of that list. But preparing chicken wings can be messy and time-consuming. Cauliflower florets simplify the process: they’re easy to handle, bake evenly, and absorb bold flavors beautifully—plus they’re a healthier option for many diets.

These cauliflower wings are simple to prepare and ideal for serving with dipping sauces, although they’re delicious on their own. No elaborate accompaniments are required—just bake, toss in sauce, and serve hot.

Spicy Cauliflower Buffalo WingsIf you’re a cauliflower fan, you’ll love these. They deliver a crunchy exterior with a tender interior and a bright, spicy buffalo flavor that’s addictive.

These cauliflower wings are gluten-free and dairy-free, though not strictly Paleo because the batter uses gluten-free all-purpose flour to achieve that desirable crispy, fluffy coating. If you avoid even gluten-free flours for strict Paleo reasons, this recipe might not fit, but for most people it’s a satisfying, diet-friendly appetizer.

Units

Scale

  • 1 head of cauliflower, cut into small florets
  • 1/2 cup carton unsweetened coconut milk
  • 1/2 cup filtered water
  • 3/41 cup all-purpose gluten-free flour
  • 2 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp ground pepper
  • 1 cup Wing Time Buffalo Wing Sauce (Medium), or your favorite hot sauce
  • 1 tbsp ghee, melted

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and lightly grease with coconut oil. Set aside.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together coconut milk, water, gluten-free flour, and the spices until smooth and combined.
  4. Toss the cauliflower florets in the batter to coat. Use tongs to transfer each floret to the baking sheet, shaking off excess batter. Bake for 10 minutes.
  5. Flip the florets and bake another 10 minutes. While they bake, whisk together the buffalo sauce and melted ghee in a small bowl.
  6. Remove the cauliflower from the oven, drizzle or brush with the hot sauce mixture, then return to the oven and bake for an additional 20 minutes, until crisp and saucy.
  7. Serve hot with your favorite dip—ranch or a Paleo-friendly dressing—or add to salads. Enjoy!
