Vegan Chocolate Raspberry Smoothie Bowl Recipe

Let’s enjoy chocolate for breakfast and actually feel good about it.

Chocolate Raspberry Smoothie Bowl

Meet this beauty: my first-ever smoothie bowl. I’m not sure why I waited so long to try one — it’s essentially a thick smoothie served with toppings. In this bowl I used fresh raspberries, crunchy granola, and cacao nibs for texture and flavor.

It’s a little like eating a soft-serve sundae for breakfast, but without the guilt. The base is rich and creamy thanks to frozen banana, bright with tart raspberry, and subtly chocolatey from cacao powder (or unsweetened cocoa). Chia seeds add body and a pleasant crunch, while the toppings bring contrast and make every bite satisfying.

This smoothie bowl is not only delicious but also nutritious. The raspberries provide antioxidants and fiber, the banana contributes creaminess and potassium, and chia seeds add omega-3s and extra fiber. I often top mine with store-bought granola for convenience, but homemade double chocolate granola would be an indulgent upgrade if you have the time.

I also love a sprinkle of cacao nibs—their bitter, roasted crunch sits somewhere between chocolate chips and espresso beans. They add texture and a concentrated cocoa flavor without added sugar, and they work well sprinkled over yogurt, baked goods, or straight into the bowl as a finishing touch.

Some mornings I’m content with fruit and coffee; other days I need something more substantial. This chocolate raspberry smoothie bowl is filling and energizing. I ate one after a six-mile run and stayed satisfied until lunch, which made a hectic shopping day much easier to get through.

Consider this bowl a quick, healthy option for busy mornings or a comforting treat when you want something special. Below is a simple recipe to make two bowls.
