This Ranch Cottage Cheese Dip is creamy, flavorful, and incredibly easy to make. It’s a tasty way to encourage kids (and adults) to eat more vegetables.Originally posted on January 19, 2018

I’m re-sharing a simple favorite that can get lost among newer recipes. As the new year inspires healthier choices, this dip is a great, easy option. Loaded with protein from cottage cheese and full of ranch flavor, it’s versatile and crowd-pleasing.

Before I tell you how good this Ranch Cottage Cheese Dip is, a quick (embarrassing) story: a few weeks ago my friend came into the gym hunched over and walking very slowly because she hurt her back. It turned out she injured herself while showing her son how to clean the toilet—she bent over and her back “went kaput.” I laughed then, and later karma caught up with me while I was taking food photos. I bent over, couldn’t get back up, and promptly felt like a 90-year-old. Lesson learned: be careful when bending for pics!
But enough about backs—let’s talk about the dip.

Many of us resolve to eat better at the start of the year—less sugar and more veggies. If you’re trying to add more raw vegetables and protein to your meals, this dip is a great ally. I brought it to a party and it was a hit. It brightens fresh vegetables and is also delicious with chips or on a baked potato.
Because cottage cheese is the base, the dip is high in protein and satisfying. It’s simple to prepare and stores well in the refrigerator, so it’s perfect for snacking throughout the week.

3 simple ingredients
- Cottage cheese – low-fat or regular, 16 oz container
- Hidden Valley Ranch dressing mix – use the dressing packet (not the dip seasoning)
- Mayonnaise – about 1/2 cup; regular or light will work
This dip is great with raw vegetables—carrots, celery, bell peppers, broccoli—or try it with potato chips or baked potatoes for a heartier snack. It’s simple enough to enjoy every day, but as with any dip, be mindful of portion sizes if you’re prioritizing health.
I’ve enjoyed this several times this week and still love it. It strikes a nice balance between healthy and indulgent—enjoy a few treats, but keep wholesome snacks like this on hand too.
Have a great weekend and happy snacking!
